Ensuring secure exams is one of the core foundational principles of Manchester Exam. Recognizing the importance of exam security and fraud prevention, we have developed the in-house Manchester Exam Security System (ME-SEC).
Live proctoring
Laptop/desktop activity tracking
Cheating Prevention (Lockdown browser)
Manchester Exam uses live proctoring to monitor Exam Takers via continuous video recording throughout the entire test. Our team includes linguistic specialists with extensive academic backgrounds to detect and prevent any misconduct. This live proctoring method also enhances our ID verification process. It allows us not only to compare the photo taken during the verification stage but also to monitor the examinee throughout the test.
During our live proctoring, we closely monitor the timing and nature of students' movements. Our specialist proctors ensure that on-screen activity aligns with the exam taker's movements and behaviors. For instance, it would be suspicious if the writing section is being populated without the student typing on the keyboard, or if, during the speaking section, the pace of the student's spoken words doesn't match the voice received by the proctor.
In the ME-SEC, we use a third-party lockdown browser. This browser is designed to prevent all types of activities that could be utilized for cheating, including the following:
“The ME-SEC system renders attempts at exam fraud virtually impossible”
“The technology and effort invested in the ME-SEC system are unparalleled. I'm genuinely amazed by this project. Unlike Duolingo, it's impossible to cheat the Manchester Exam – that's indisputable.”
